Government Relations

SCCA has established a Legislative Program that seeks to influence California’s regulations and laws.  The Legislative Committee has retained a legislative advocate in Sacramento since the early 1990s.  The advocate is charged with investigating, researching and actively participating in legislative hearings and meetings.

Throughout the year, the Legislative Committee reviews and takes positions on hundreds of bills.  Issues range from contracting requirements, bonding, workers compensation, transportation funding, environmental policy, broad business, HR policy, and much more.

SCCA encourages members to actively establish relationships with state and local legislators.  When your representatives know who you are, it is far easier to influence policy and decisions at every level.  Maintaining a strong presence in Sacramento is important to the health of California’s construction industry.
