Member Spotlight: Crane Rental Service

Crane Rental Service
Delivering the height of service

Crane Rental Service founder William C. Foster, built the company with one goal: “To offer a well-maintained crane fleet, around the clock availability, and an experienced staff, and to give each and every job our utmost attention to detail and service.” Foster founded the company in 1965 in Tustin, Calif., with a single conventional 8-ton crane that he had converted into a remote-controlled unit. Demand for his lifting services was so strong, he found himself in the market for a new crane in his second year of business. Foster bought a Grove TM 5 5-ton truck crane.

In 1974, the company moved to its current location in Orange, where the larger facility allowed the company to expand the number and size of cranes in its fleet and add staff who brought a wealth of crane rental knowledge to the company. Soon, a second location was needed, and in 1983 Crane Rental Service opened its Tempe, Ariz., location.

Today, the company has one of the largest crane fleets in the Western United States with 23 cranes in Orange County and 18 in Tempe. The fleet includes 25- to 350-ton hydraulic cranes, 30-ton boom truck and 50-ton rough-terrain cranes, all of which are available on an hourly basis. The Operating Engineers Local #12 operators are NCCCO & OECP certified and skillfully handle a variety of work, including general hoisting, freeway work, trucking, machinery moves and refinery work.

We have the ability to get an experienced team to your site within a short amount of time. Our staff is also specially trained to respond to an array of emergency disaster situations including natural disasters such as earthquakes. We also provide you with cranes for work that must be completed during the evening and night hours such as air conditioner replacement on retail buildings that can only be completed when the building has emptied for the day.

Today, Cathy Foster Greinke serves as company president and her brother, Greg Foster, is vice president. They grew up learning the business at their father’s side and have worked full time for the company since graduating from high school. “Our growth and success is a direct result of our day-to-day service to our customers,” says Cathy Greinke. “We assess their needs, plan each facet of the job with the utmost care, and then walk our customers through every aspect of the job.”
